In recent years we have been able to do many amazing things as a result of computers and online developments. BUT, back before computers, it wasn’t so simple. In fact, we organized our references with handwritten card files and black and white photos of articles in magazines and newspapers. As you can see in this image from my vintage collection, the quality was not great and finding what you wanted could be a long physical search through your files.
It takes a lot of time, but today you can even convert those old handwritten pages into modern type that can be presented as a PDF or text document.
We are currently, sorting through our vintage Grand Manan reference documents and updating them, but only to make them separate and more readable. We don’t intend to convert them to type; but hopefully they will be valuable in 2 ways … as a reminder of how lucky we are today to have efficient and readable documents produced on our computers and to have them stored and distributed online.
Many of our vintage documents will be converted to PDFs ,but we hope you will enjoy seeing and using our original card reference library similar to the way we once did.
Coming soon!!!
