The following article written by Keith Ingersoll, covers the Grand Manan ferry service from 1884 to 1965. Until the ferry was redirected to Blacks Harbour only, these ferries went daily to Grand Manan, Campobello, Eastport, Deer Island, St. Andrews and even St. Stephen for awhile. This created a true “Quoddy Community” where families lived and married throughout this area. Today, only remnants of these connections remain. A considerable loss to some folks.
